This is a semi-scale model kit of the Project Mercury test vehicle known as Little Joe. This kit comes with everything you’ll need to construct a flying small scale model of the test vehicle… okay, almost everything… it does not include the glue, or the hobby knife, or the sand paper, or the sergeant rocket engines, or the Wallops Island launch pad, or the 60 or so engineers it took to launch the real thing, or either of the two monkeys who rode aboard it (mainly because they’re… well… dead.). You also do not get the United States Navy to help you recover the rocket, but that should not stop you from phoning them and asking them to do so (Give ‘em that “I pay your salary” line… they just love that). Also NO 18 mm rocket engines such as B6-4s or C6-5s, which the rocket uses are included in the kit- you’ll have to go to a hobby store and buy your own. Which brings to mind another thing you won’t get… skill! Well, actually, you will develop some skill as you build the kit, but we have to tell you this because we have to assume that you may be a skill-less slug who, if we implied so, would believe that somehow by just opening our box a magic skill pixie will leap out dive down your throat and then bust out through your chest and build the model for you. This will not happen… or at least we don’t expect it to happen… okay be careful opening the box just in case and remember to keep your mouth closed at all times just in case. If you do release a magic skill pixie- alert the Navy while you have them on the phone discussing that recovery fleet thing.

What you do get is all of the parts to build the kit. Ya’ know… balsa wood and paper tubes and sticks and stuff. When finished The Little Joe weighs in at an empty weight of 1.74 oz, stands 12.95 inches tall, fin-span of 5.27 inches and uses 18mm engines. It is an average skill level kit.

Q: “What scale is this?”
Our Answer: We’re not that good at math here at Dr. Zooch Rockets, so we just say it’s “Ant-Scale.”

Q: “That’s not an answer… please, please tell me the exact scale?”
Our Answer: Okay… one cubit equal to .77 rods… happy now?

Q: “If you don’t tell me the exact scale I’ll send e-mails
harassing you yet never actually buy the kit, how do you like that?”
Our Answer: Seek professional help.

Q: “Is this a kit or are you selling the already built one in the picture?”
Our Answer: It’s a kit- we’re just showing photos of a really nicely built one to make you feel inferior after you work on
yours for countless hours- just like those TV infomercials
about your “abs.”

Q: “Are engines included and what size engines does it take?”
Our Answer: NO! NO engines are included. You'll have to toddle down to your local hobby store and buy an 18 mm “B”
or “C."

Q: “What skill level is this kit?”
Our Answer: This is an average skill level kit. In other words, if you own a hobby knife and have actually bought more blades for it, you probably have enough skill. Or if you own more than 18 bottles of Testor’s paint and have had at least one major spill involving such paint- you have enough skill to build this kit.

Q: "What's the recovery system?"
Our Answer: At Dr. Zooch Rockets we spare every expense in making your kit, so you'll get a genuine trash-bag plastic parachute.

Q: "This kit comes with one of those Dr. Zooch trash-bag plastic parachutes, what if it fails?"
Our Answer: We give you this guarantee- if your trash-bag plastic parachute fails on the first flight and your rocket ends up as a smoldering pile of shattered balsa wood, you send us all of the remains and we'll send you a brand new trash-bag plastic parachute absolutely free.
